PIONEERS EDGED BY ST. EDWARD'S IN NONCONFERENCE TILT
Turnovers Plague Second Half Rally

AUSTIN, Texas – TWU senior guard Julie Prescher (Valley View, TX) nailed a three-pointer with 40 seconds in regulation to tie the score at 62-all, but the Pioneers could not hold on as St. Edward’s earned a 65-62 win on its home court.

Prescher sunk three of the Pioneers six three-pointers in the game and was a perfect three-of-three at the free-throw line for 12 points. Prescher’s teammates Kenyada Frazier (Denver, CO) and Lacey Pemberton (Hawkins, TX) each added a game-high 14 points. Frazier also contributed a game-high eight rebounds and three key blocked shots during that second half rally.

TWU shot 46.7 percent from the field, but had a hard time holding onto the ball with 32 turnovers in the game.

"I was pleased by the rally we seemed to show at the end," TWU head basketball coach Devin Gabbard said. "Kenyada (Frazier) hit four clutch free throws in a row and then Julie (Prescher) sunk the three-pointer, but we just could not keep possession of the ball when it mattered most."

The Pioneers (1-7) return to the friendly confines of Kitty Magee Arena to host Lone Star Conference foe Northeastern State on Saturday, January 3. Tip-off is 3 p.m.
