PIONEER
ATHLETIC TRAINING PROGRAM
Mission
Statement
The Pioneer Athletic Training Program is dedicated to providing
the best possible health care for its student-athletes. Physicians,
Athletic Trainers (certified and student), coaches, and athletes
all play an interactive role in establishing an effectively-operating
system of prevention and care. The Athletic Training staff
in conjunction with our team of medical professionals coordinates
the delivery of professional and comprehensive preventative,
treatment, and rehabilitation services to all pioneer athletes.
At Texas Woman’s University, the Athletic Training staff
arranges and coordinates the provision of health care delivery
ensuring that proper medical attention and a safe and timely
return to athletic participation is gained.
Education Mission Statement
The
primary mission of the Athletic Training Education Program
is to provide quality instructional programs through which
students may obtain the knowledge and psychomotor skills necessary
to practice as a Texas Department of Health Licensed Athletic
Trainer. Importance is placed upon the provision of opportunities
within the curriculum for the development of skills encompassing
the domains of Athletic Training. Strong emphasis is placed
on the practical clinical experience coupled with specific
professional coursework. In fulfilling its mission, the program
also seeks to extend educational opportunities beyond the classroom
by providing athletic training students the opportunity to
experience the provision of Athletic Training services throughout
the region. Through successful completion of the Athletic Training
Education Program, graduates are prepared to enter the profession
of Athletic Training and assume a leadership role in the implementation
of changes evolving in the sports medicine arena.
