SCHROEDER AND CROW CHOSEN FOR ESPN THE MAGAZINE COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM

DENTON, Texas (November 8) - Two Texas Woman’s University volleyball players - junior middle blocker Kandis Schroeder and sophomore setter Jessica Crow - have been named to the 2007 ESPN the Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-District VI College Division Volleyball Team.

Schroeder, a mathematics major with a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA, was a first team choice. Crow (pictured), a kinesiology major with a 3.91 cumulative GPA, was picked for the second team.

A native of Windthorst, Texas, Schroeder has enjoyed a prosperous 2007 season on the court for the Pioneers. Her 90 total blocks (seven block solos/83 block assists) are tied for the TWU team lead and her 269 kills are the second-most on the Pioneers’ roster. She also averages 3.00 points per game, the second-highest total on the TWU squad. The CoSIDA honor is the third significant award that Schroeder has received this week. On Tuesday, November 6, she was tabbed for the 2007 Lone Star Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team. On Wednesday, November 7, she was chosen for the 2007 Lone Star Conference Volleyball All-Conference first team.

Crow, a product of Longview, Texas, has been the catalyst of the Pioneers’ offense this season. She is averaging 10.78 assists per game and has totaled a remarkable 1,003 assists for the year. Her 25 service aces and 250 digs are the third-most on the TWU roster. Like Schroeder, Crow was selected for the 2007 Lone Star Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team. She was also an honorable mention choice to the 2007 Lone Star Conference Volleyball All-Conference Team.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), in conjunction with ESPN the Magazine, selects Academic All-America teams in 12 programs: football, women's volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's track & field/cross country, women's track & field/cross country, men's at-large and women's at-large. A first team, second team and third team are selected in both the University (Division I and I-AA) and College (Division II, III and NAIA) Divisions. Football consists of just first and second teams.

To qualify for one of these teams, athletes must have over a 3.20 cumulative GPA, be in their second year of competition at the institution and be a starter or key substitute. The teams are selected by the active members of CoSIDA.
