DENTON, Texas (November 26) - Texas Woman’s University middle blocker Kandis Schroeder was an honorable mention selection to the 2007 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Southwest Region Team.
Schroeder, a junior from Windthorst, Texas, enjoyed a stellar 2007 season for the Pioneers. She started 27 of the teams’ 28 matches and led all TWU players in attack percentage (2.53), block assists (88), total blocks (95), and blocks per game (0.86). She finished second on the Pioneers’ roster in kills (277), kills per game (2.50), points (331), and points per game (2.98). The AVCA honors deserving student-athletes annually by selecting All-Region teams for each of the eight regions (Atlantic, Great Lakes, North Central, Northeast, Pacific, South, South Central, and Southwest) in NCAA Division II women’s volleyball. Each All-Region team is made up of 12 members and six honorable mention selections. First, second, and third AVCA All-American teams are also picked.
The AVCA honor is just the latest in a plethora of postseason awards that Schroeder has received. She was also chosen for the 2007 LSC All-Tournament team, the 2007 LSC All-Conference first-team, the 2007 LSC All-Academic team, and the 2007 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VI College Division Volleyball team.
