FOUR PIONEERS EARN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

DENTON , Texas (Nov. 2) Four Texas Woman’s University volleyball players have been selected to the Lone Star Conference North Division All-Conference team.

A pair of sophomores, middle blocker Kandis Schroeder and outside hitter Krystle Everett, were named to the All-Conference second team.

Senior outside hitter Robin Hawkins and junior libero Heather Marcus received honorable mention All-Conference recognition.

Schroeder, a native of Windthorst, Texas, was a season-long force at the net for TWU. She led the Pioneers this season in block solos (14), block assists (87) and total blocks (101). Her average of .83 blocks per game was also the TWU team high. Schroeder was also featured in the TWU offensive attack this year. Her 349 kills were the second most this season by any Pioneer player and her 33 service aces were the fourth highest total on the TWU roster. This is the second consecutive season that Schroeder has earned LSC recognition. Last year, she was selected as the 2005 LSC Freshman of the Year.

Everett transferred to TWU this summer after spending two years (2004-2006) at Baylor University. She made a major impact during her first season in a TWU uniform. The Crandall, Texas product led the Pioneers in both kills (366) and points per game (3.79). Her 93 total blocks and 42 service aces were the second most this season by any TWU player.

Hawkins, who hails from Flower Mound, Texas, was again one of the Pioneers most complete players this season. She led TWU with 59 service aces, was second on the team with 379 digs, and finished third on the club with 274 kills. The honorable mention All-Conference selection this season for Hawkins comes after she was named to the LSC All-Conference second team in 2005.

Marcus also came to the Pioneers program this summer after playing two seasons at Baylor University. The Arlington, Texas born defensive whiz led TWU this year in serve receptions (707) and digs (625).

The four All-Conference TWU student-athletes and the rest of their volleyball teammates will be in action tonight in Lawton, Oklahoma in the quarterfinals of the 2006 LSC Volleyball Tournament. TWU will square off against two-time defending LSC Tournament champion Abilene Christian in a 7:30 p.m. match.
