JOHNSON CHOSEN AS LSC SOUTH DIVISION HITTER OF THE WEEK
 DENTON, Texas (April 8) – Texas Woman’s University senior shortstop Rachel Johnson (pictured) has been named the Lone Star Conference South Division Hitter of the Week for the week of Mar. 31- April 7.
Johnson, a native of Keller, Texas, was highly productive at the plate in the Pioneers’ five games played last week. She collected seven hits in 12 at bats for a .563 average. She also hit four home runs and piled up 10 runs batted in. Her best game came on Saturday, April 5, versus Texas A&M-Kingsville when she was 3-3 with two home runs, three runs scored, and five RBI’s in a 7-2 Pioneer win over the Javelinas.
Johnson is now hitting .307 for the season with a TWU team-leading five home runs and 28 RBI’s.
The TWU softball team will return to action tomorrow evening, Wednesday, April 9, when they host a doubleheader (scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.) against Texas Wesleyan University. The Pioneers will then travel to San Angelo, Texas this weekend (Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12) to play a three-game Lone Star Conference South Division series against the Angelo State University Rambelles, the third-ranked team in this week’s NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll.
