BUSY WEEK AHEAD FOR THE PIONEER SOFTBALL TEAM
 DENTON, Texas (March 25) - This week will be a busy one for the Texas Woman’s University softball team as the Pioneers will play nine games in a period of just five days.
The hectic schedule for TWU begins with tomorrow night’s (Wednesday, March 26, 5/7 p.m.) doubleheader at Pioneer Field versus the Midwestern State University Mustangs.
The Pioneers will then travel to Durant, Oklahoma to take part in this weekend’s 2008 Lone Star Conference Softball Crossover Tournament. TWU will play seven games (two on Friday, March 28, three on Saturday, March 29, and two on Sunday, March 30) versus LSC North Division opponents in the three-day tournament being held at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex.
“It’s going to be a challenge,” said TWU assistant softball coach Kristin Minton of the week ahead for her team. “But, our girls are used to tournament play. Having this many games in such a short period of time is nothing new for them.”
TWU (10-24) is playing well as of late, having won three out of their last five games. Minton is hopeful that her squad can keep improving.
“We’re making progress,” she said. “This week will be a good measuring stick for us to see how far we’ve come. I’m confident that we’ll have a good showing and bring home our fair share of wins.”
