VINCENT PICKED FOR ESPN THE MAGAZINE COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM
DENTON, Texas (November 2) - Texas Woman’s University junior soccer player Aly Vincent has been named to the 2007 ESPN the Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-District VI College Division Women’s Soccer Second Team.
Vincent, a goalkeeper from Denton’s Billy Ryan High School, earned this prestigious academic honor on the strength of her outstanding work both on the pitch and in the classroom. She started all 20 of the Pioneers’ games this season in goal and posted an 8-9-3 record. Six of her wins came by shutout. She led the Lone Star Conference, and set a TWU single-season school record, with 144 saves. Her 7.20 saves per game were the most in the LSC while her save percentage of .857 was the second-highest in the conference. Her goals against average of 1.15 was the third-lowest amongst all LSC goalkeepers. On two occasions this season, she was picked as the LSC Co-Defensive Player of the Week. She also was recognized as the LSC Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 16-22.
A mathematics major, Vincent currently has a perfect 4.0 GPA. Earlier this week, she was selected to the 2007 Lone Star Conference Women’s Soccer All-Academic Team. She was also a member of the 2006 Lone Star Conference Women’s Soccer All-Academic Team.
