TWU SOCCER SIGNS SEVEN FOR 2007
DENTON, Texas (Feb. 27) – Seven talented soccer players have signed National Letters of Intent with the Texas Woman’s University soccer team.
Rebekah Ledet, Raven Morales, Gayle Grand-Lienard, Taylor Bullock, Erika Chowdhury, Kyli Morgan, and Nori Morgan have all committed to TWU and will make up the majority of the 2007 TWU Soccer recruiting class.
Ledet, 5’6”, is a left-footed midfielder from Allen, Texas. She played her high school soccer at Allen High School and her club soccer for the FC Dallas Club team.
Morales, 5’4”, is a forward/defender from Warren High School in San Antonio, Texas. She played her club soccer with the Lonestar Soccer Club of Austin.
Grand-Leinard, Bullock, and Chowdury are all products of the FC Dallas East club team. Grand-Leinard, 5”5”, is a forward/midfielder from Sulphur Springs, Texas and Sulphur Springs High School. Bullock, 5’5”, is a product of Rockwall, Texas and Rockwall High School. Chowdhury, 5’6”, hails from Rowlett, Texas and played for Rowlett High School.
Kyli and Nori Morgan are twin sisters from Plano, Texas who played their high school soccer for Plano East. Kyli, 5’7”, is a midfielder that played club soccer for the Dallas Texans Soccer Club. Nori, 5’6”, is a goalkeeper that competed for the DFW Tejanos Soccer Club.
TWU head soccer coach Fleur Benatar is pleased with both the quantity and quality of her recruiting class.
“This is second-biggest recruiting class in the history of our program. I wanted to improve the overall talent level of our team, and I believe I have accomplished that goal with this group of players. This is a very fast and talented freshman class capable of making an immediate impact for us in 2007,” she said.
TWU will open its 2007 soccer season on August 24 against Southwest Baptist University with the inaugural game at the brand new TWU soccer field located on TWU’s Denton campus. Kick off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
