TRIO OF TWU SOCCER PLAYERS NAMED TO 2006 LSC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
DENTON , Texas (Oct. 27) – Three Texas Woman’s University student-athletes were named to the 2006 Lone Star Conference Women’s All-Conference team.
Senior forward Emily Meinen and junior defensive player Sue Cribbes were tabbed for the LSC All-Conference second team. Freshman forward Chastity Hayter was recognized as an honorable mention selection.
Meinen enjoyed a prolific senior season for TWU this fall. The Keller native led the Pioneers in goals (8), points (18), shots (65), and shots on goal (30). One of her goals was a game-winning marker, and she had a three-game goal-scoring streak from October 3-8. Meinen also finished tied for third in the Lone Star Conference in goals scored and was second amongst all LSC players in shots.
Cribbes was a defensive mainstay this year for the Pioneers. She started all 19 of TWU’s games and contributed mightily to the team’s four shutout wins. A native of Flower Mound, Cribbes also chipped in offensively with two goals, one assist and 32 shots.
Hayter, a Desoto product, was easily one of the top freshmen in the entire Lone Star Conference this season. Playing both offensive and defensive positions this year, she finished the year with one goal and 28 shots.
The All-Conference awards for Meinen and Cribbes are the second for both student-athletes in their careers. The duo was recognized as honorable mention selections to the 2005 Lone Star Conference All-Conference team.
