TWU TO FINISH SEASON ON UNT RECREATIONAL FIELD
DENTON, Texas (Oct. 2) – Texas Woman’s University will finish the 2006 soccer season on its adopted home field at the University of North Texas Recreational Sports Complex. The Pioneers anticipated playing their final three home games on their own campus but construction and weather delays on the new soccer facility will keep them across town.
TWU has three key Lone Star Conference games slated at home starting with Friday’s 4 p.m. contest with Southwestern Oklahoma State. All fans are encouraged to wear maroon and free CiCi’s pizza will be given away while supplies last.
The Pioneers will host defending league champion Central Oklahoma on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m. This is a change from the previously announced start time.
TWU closes out the regular season home slate on Sunday, Oct. 15, against rival Texas A&M-Commerce at 2 p.m. Not only will this game be Senior Day, it’s “Maroon Out” day. Fans can purchase “Maroon Out 2006” t-shirts sponsored by Groggy Dog Sportswear for $5.00 this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the Student Union, 2 nd floor.
The new TWU soccer venue, located on the east side of campus on the site of the former Mary Hufford Hall residence buildings, will open for the Fall 2007 season.
