TWU Soccer Opens Season With Loss to St.Mary's
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas Woman’s University soccer team began the 2006 season with a disappointing 3-0 loss to St. Mary’s University Friday afternoon in San Antonio.
"We looked tired and dehydrated," said TWU head coach Fleur Benatar. "It was not a good showing and that was really disappointing because we had a great preseason."
The Pioneers fell behind 2-0 by halftime and finished the game with only three shots on goal. St. Mary’s had 11 total shots including four on goal. TWU goalkeeper Aly Vincent played the entire game and made two saves.
"We were totally unprepared in the first half," Benatar added. "We made a few mistakes in the first half and it cost us."
TWU will be back in action Sunday in San Antonio against Incarnate Word beginning at 1 p.m.
