PIONEERS READY FOR MIC CLASH WITH SEMO
Current GymInfo Rankings
DENTON, Texas (February 5) - Kitty Magee Arena will be the site of a Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) gymnastics showdown this Friday night (February 8, 7:00 p.m.) between the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks (SEMO) and the Texas Woman’s University Pioneers.
Through three weeks of the 2008 gymnastics season, SEMO has a team average score of 193.442 and is ranked first in this week’s GymInfo MIC rankings. TWU has a team average score of 191.887 and is the second-ranked team in the MIC.
“It doesn’t get any better than number one versus number two,” said TWU head coach Frank Kudlac. “SEMO’s coming to town with a big bull’s-eye on their back as the top team in the conference. In order for us to be the best in the MIC, we have to be able to beat the best in the MIC. Hopefully we can have a good showing on Friday night.”
SEMO (#27) is also slightly ahead of TWU (#39) in this week’s GymInfo national rankings of all NCAA gymnastics teams. The Pioneers, however, are still ranked first in this week’s USA Gymnastics (USAG) and NCAA Division II rankings.
A large collection of TWU gymnasts are currently in the top three in the weekly individual event rankings for the USAG and MIC:
