PIONEERS HEAD TO WEST CHESTER RANKED 37TH IN THE NATION

Current GymInfo Rankings

DENTON, Texas (February 14) - Thanks to a season-high team score of 194.150 in their dual meet victory over Southeast Missouri State University on Friday, February 8, the Texas Woman’s University gymnastics team climbed two spots to #37 in this week’s GymInfo national collegiate gymnastics rankings of all NCAA Division I, II, and III gymnastics teams.

For the fifth consecutive week, TWU is ranked first in the NCAA D-II rankings and the USA Gymnastics (USAG) college rankings. Despite defeating SEMO, the Pioneers remain second to the Redhawks in this week’s Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) rankings.

This weekend, the Pioneers will travel to West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania for a pair of meets. On Friday, February 15, TWU will take on WCU in a dual meet. On Sunday, February 17, the Pioneers compete at WCU again in a quad meet featuring four of the five NCAA Division II gymnastics teams in the country - WCU, TWU, the University of Bridgeport, and Southern Connecticut State.

Sandwiched between the two meets, on Saturday, February 16, will be the West Chester University 2008 Athletics Hall of Fame banquet. TWU gymnastics head coach Frank Kudlac (pictured above), a WCU alum and a former gymnast for the Rams, will be inducted into WCU Hall of Fame with his team and family present for the ceremony.

“Obviously this is going to be a very special weekend for me personally,” said Kudlac. “I got my start in college gymnastics at West Chester and it’s only appropriate that I bring my TWU team back here with me to be a part of the Hall of Fame festivities.”
