 Junior Tonya Pipkorn (pictured) has been chosen by her teammates as this week's TWU Gymnastics Pioneer of the Week (P.O.W.). Pipkorn is a native of Denton, Texas and trained as a club gymnast at Acheivers Gymnastics.
Pipkorn was selected by her teammates as the P.O.W. because of her consistent performances on both beam and floor to this point in the 2008 season. She is currently averaging a 9.656 on beam and a 9.569 on floor. Additionally, Pipkorn has demonstrated an unfailingly positive attitude in both practice and competition.
"To put it quite simply, Tonya is becoming one of our team leaders," said TWU head coach Frank Kudlac. "She has matured into a steady and reliable performer on both beam and floor. I'm very happy with the way she has continued to develop this season."
