 Sophomore Keri Miller (pictured) has been chosen by a vote of her teammates as this week's TWU Gymnastics Pioneer of the Week (P.O.W.). Miller is a native of Richardson, Texas and trained as a club gymnast at Richardson Gymnastics.
Miller had perhaps the best meet of her Pioneer career on Friday, February 8, versus SEMO. She scored a 9.600 on bars, and then, as the TWU anchor on floor, she posted a mark of 9.700 to help the Pioneers rally past the Redhawks in the final rotation of the night and secure the dual meet victory.
It was the first time that Miller had competed on floor as a college gymnast. She was not originally in the TWU lineup on the event, but after an injury to freshman Caroline Hilpisch on vault, Miller was called on at the last minute to perform her routine. Despite having just the three minute touch to warm up, Miller delivered an impressive score.
"Keri was amazing against SEMO," said TWU head coach Frank Kudlac. "She has been working so hard to break into the floor lineup this year, but, until last Friday, she had not had the chance. However, when she got her opportunity, she made the most of it."
Kudlac said he wasn't surprised with Miller's success.
"She is one of this team's hardest workers. Day in and day out, she is pushing herself to get better. All of her effort paid off on Friday night and she was a big reason that we were able to win the meet," he said.
