 Freshman Kristie Costa (pictured) has been chosen by her teammates as this week's TWU Gymnastics Pioneer of the Week (P.O.W.). Costa is a native of Flower Mound, Texas and trained as a club gymnast at US Gold/Excite Gymnastics.
Costa has competed on beam in eleven meets this season, and has an average score of 9.568. Five times this year she has scored a 9.700 or better. On two occasions, February 23 vs. Centenary and March 2 vs. Iowa, she recorded career-high scores of 9.80.
TWU head coach Frank Kudlac raves about Costa's marked improvement over the course of the season.
"Kristie has really raised her level of gymnastics," he said. "She has matured into a consistent contributor for us on beam. I'm looking forward to seeing what she can do at the upcoming USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships."
