 Junior Amie Boles (pictured) has been chosen as this week's TWU Gymnastics Pioneer of the Week (P.O.W.). Boles is a native of Snellville, Georgia and trained as a club gymnast at the Georgia Gymnastics Academy.
Boles has been a consistent contributor on three events - vault, beam, and floor - during her first two seasons as a Pioneer. In recent weeks, she has improved her bar set and is pushing for a spot in TWU's 2008 bar lineup. Additionally, she has recently learned a new floor routine that TWU gymnastics head coach Frank Kudlac said will be a "showcase" performance.
Boles has also drawn praise from her teammates and the coaching staff for her consistently great attitude, her tremendous work ethic (both in and out of the gym), and her diligence and perserverance in her academic studies.
Kudlac also stressed that Boles winning personality and enthusiasm has really been beneficial to his team.
"She's always wearing a smile, never a frown," he said. "That's contagious, and it makes every body in the gym feel a little bit better about what they are doing."
