PIONEER POST from Jennifer |
Pioneer Post – April 7, 2008
Hello Pioneer Fans!
First of all I would like to say congratulations to our Pioneer of the Week, Kristie Costa! Kristie has been stepping up her game in practice and has become a vital part to the TWU beam lineup. She has also been doing a good job of dedicating herself to her school work.
The focus of last week’s practices was to not stress about every little mistake but to have confidence in ourselves and just BAM out our sets like we know how. Even though we didn’t have a meet this past weekend to prepare for, we were still working hard to get ready for the upcoming USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships in Shreveport, LA. Since we did have the weekend off to relax, the coaches upped the intensity of our conditioning routine. We have started swimming and doing circuit again to help get us in the best possible shape for our last meet of the season. Sometimes the extra conditioning can be hard but we always make the best of it. The other day in the pool we got out all the floaty toys and were using those for conditioning instead of the boring kick boards. I had an alligator and it was hard work just to keep from falling off the thing!
Don’t forget that Courtney Arno-Templet will represent TWU at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships this Saturday, April 12 th, at OU. She will compete on bars and beam. Good luck, Court!
USAG Collegiate Nationals is April 17-19 at Centenary College in Shreveport. That’s only a three-and-a-half hour drive from Denton, so we would love to see you there if you can make it! If not, we always love it when fans send faxes to the hotel!
Check back next week to see what we are doing for our last full week of practices for the season! This coming week will be extremely important for preparing us for Nationals!
Go Pioneers!!!
One Team – One Dream
