(Editor's Note: This is the second in a series of "Pioneer Posts" from Shreveport, Lousiana detailing the TWU Pioneers experiences at the 2008 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships. Read all of the "Pioneer Posts" from Nationals week by clicking here)
Hello Pioneer Fans!
Today was our first full day in Shreveport, Louisiana. We enjoyed our time together as a team as we prepare to begin our quest for our 9th USAG Collegiate National Championship title.
We started the morning off with a much-needed breakfast, followed by preparation for the annual National’s banquet. For the banquet we proudly dressed in our maroon to display our TWU school spirit. And yes gymnasts do wear clothes; we looked quite stunning actually (check out the picture of Nicole and Mollie on the right)! As usual, with any event picture taking is a must! There were definitely tons of flashes, smiles, and crazy faces made.

After the banquet we were allowed to catch up on some rest. This “rest” I speak of can be considered as nap time, homework time, or fun in the sun. It was a chance for some of us to hit the books and stay on top of our school work or catch some UV rays by the pool.
We also attended a practice session at the Gold Dome on the campus of Centenary College, the site of this week’s competition. We used this time to become familiar with the equipment and our surroundings. We were very relaxed, yet confident during our rotations.
The most important aspect of our day was the heightened level of fun. When we have fun, we do great. And when we do great, amazing rewards always come our way. Our goal for the week is to be united, have fun, and walk away with no regrets.
Wish us luck as we embrace the challenge to bring home our dream - USAG national championship number nine. Can’t wait to see you there! You can also send us good luck faxes to the hotel at 318-688-4557. We would love to hear from you! Check back tomorrow for more Pioneer news!
