Hello Pioneer Fans,
Welcome to Day 3 (the team semifinals) of the 2008 USAG National Championships. There was a great feeling amongst the team as we woke up this morning, and we were all so excited to finally embrace the challenge ahead of us. We started the morning off with a team activity after breakfast that was led by our athletic trainer, Kris Ring. We took a light walk around the hotel and then played “Red Light Green Light” with team breaking off into two teams. We took it easy the rest of the afternoon to rest and get ready for the competition. We left around 4:00 ready to rock.
We started on beam and unfortunately headed to floor having to count a fall on beam. I was so proud to say that we did not let that interfere with the task ahead of us and had to remember that it is never over until the last person lands. We went from floor, to vault and then bars with the most impressive routines I have seen from this team all season. We had some of the most amazing floor routines without a fall, and hit six for six on vault as well. Bars ended the meet with some great sets as well. After the meet was over, we waited as they announced the teams that would be advancing to team finals on Friday, as well as the individuals who would compete on Saturday in the individual event finals. We will have TWU gymnasts in all four of the individual event finals this year with Nicole Poling, Mollie Blessing, and Brittany Parker advancing on vault. Courtney Arno-Templet (pictured), and Amanda Walker will be competing on bars. Tonya Pipkorn and Courtney Arno-Templet will be representing the Pioneers on beam, and Amie Boles, Mollie Blessing, and Tonya Pipkorn will be taking part in the floor finals. Congratulations to these individuals for their accomplishments, however I know their focus is on tomorrow night and trying to win TWU’s ninth USAG National Championship.
Check back tomorrow to see how the finals go and to find out is taking home the 2008 USAG National Championship.
