Pioneer Post - December 3, 2007
 Welcome back, Pioneer Gymnastics Fans!!
Another week has flown by, and here we are approaching the end of the fall semester! We have been very focused on school and gymnastics as we prepare for the intrasquad meet on Dec. 7th and also final exams starting Dec. 8th. The team has been working hard in preparation for the intrasquad meet. Coach put up the “teams” at practice on Thursday. It’s going to be a lot of fun, and it’ll be good practice for our first meet at the Cancun Classic, which is right around the corner!
In addition to Coach posting the intrasquad teams, numerous goals have been posted again for us to accomplish before Christmas break. If we complete all of the goals before the intrasquad meet on Friday, we don’t have to practice on Sunday, Dec. 9th! Everyone is motivated and has been working extremely hard to meet their goals! Another fun tradition going on this week is Secret Santa. We all drew a name out of a hat and will give small gifts to one another this week for Christmas. We will find out who our “Secret Santa” is at the annual team Christmas party at Coach’s house on Saturday. The Christmas party is something I look forward to every year. It’s basically the last time the team is together as a whole before the holiday break. We have a delicious meal, exchange gifts, and simply enjoy each other’s company.
The team is looking outstanding in the gym. We’ve been playing some “games” on each event. On vault, we played the “pyramid game” or “step-it-up” game where we have to hit a certain number of consecutive vaults before we can move on to the next row. Once we got to the top of the pyramid, Coach picked who had to try and hit for completion of the game. The vault team did an excellent job. We also played a point game on beam. Amy Hulbert, Kristie Costa, and I won the game with a whopping 302 points! We even got little gold medals! So while we are working extremely hard in the gym, the coaches still manage to make practices enjoyable.
We have just a few more practices until our intrasquad meet this Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Pioneer Hall. Admission to the meet is free and the first 150 people get a free t-shirt and free Cici’s pizza will be given away (while supplies last) to all fans.
