PIONEER POST from Courtney |
Pioneer Post - November 19, 2007
This is Courtney Arno-Templet again, here to inform you on another great week of TWU Gymnastics! I left off last week with a little Thanksgiving goal anticipation, of which I'm glad to say was a big success. About a week and a half ago the coaches posted around 45 individual goals for everyone on the team to try and accomplish. The "goal" was to complete each individual goal assigned to your name before the Thanksgiving break. The special incentive was if we had all of the goals completed and removed by Monday (Nov 19) we did not have to practice on Tuesday (Nov. 20). Needless to say, that was more than enough motivation to spark a fire and get us ready to go. Not only were we able to complete all of the goals in time, but we did it by Sunday; I thought we should have had Monday practice off as well but Coach didn't think so!!!!
Because of this great motivation and determination to remove our goals from the board, the team moved forward with some big steps. We have made full sets on all of the events and have increased our level of difficulty in many routines. Every day brings more and more enthusiasm as we come closer and closer to the start of competition season.
I would like to point out our "Pioneer of the Week" of the week - Lauren Sizemore - is one of our "rookies" this year. We expect to see great things from her. We don't always hear a lot from her, but that must be because she is working so hard that she saves the talking for after practice. She should be a big contributor for us on vault, beam, and floor this year, so come get a sneak peek at her and the rest of the team during our Intra Squad meet coming up on December 7th.
We have a very short week of practice, and then we all get to enjoy time off with our friends and family for the Thanksgiving holiday. Sunday night we gathered around and shared what things we are all thankful for that sometimes we take for granted. It's nice to take the time to share those things with the people close to you, and I think it only brings us closer. We would also like to say how thankful we are for all of our fans and people who support this program who make college gymnastics possible for all of us.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
