Pioneer Post - October 22, 2007
Hello, Pioneer fans!
My name is Brista Michael and I am a junior majoring in Biology and Health Studies. As you know, our motto for this year is “One Team. One Dream. Embrace the Challenge.” I feel that everyone has done a great job so far of taking on the new conditioning programs and workouts that are put in front of us. As we continue doing our best with what we are presented with, I expect that you will see us do great things this year!
This week proved to be demanding outside of the gym. It seemed that everyone was swamped with midterm exams and papers, but that did not affect our performance in the gym. Each day at practice people were stepping out of their comfort zones in preparation for the season ahead of us. It is so exciting to see teammates improve day to day. “ROCK-TOBER” is the month to establish ourselves for potential line up spots; at the moment, we have many people on each event proving to be ready to compete. New tumbling passes are coming along, release moves on bars are being caught more consistently, skills on beam are being put into routines, and new vaults are making their debut this year. I am excited for the season ahead of us because we have so many great gymnasts on the team that will help us achieve our dream. On Monday, Coach announced the co-captains for this year. Congratulations to Courtney Templet and Nicole Poling!
This past Saturday, the members of the Athenian Honor Society attended the Broadway presentation of “The Lion King” at the State Fair of Texas. Nicole Poling, Amie Boles, Amy Hulbert, Jen Liberato, Caroline Hilpisch and I all enjoyed a day at the fair and the wonderful presentation of the Broadway play.
Until next week!
Brista Michael
