TWU GYMNASTICS SIGNS TWO MORE
DENTON, Texas (June 7) – Lauren Sizemore and Amanda Walker have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Texas Woman’s University Pioneers gymnastics team.
Sizemore, a product of the All-American Gymnastics Club in Lake Jackson, Texas, is coming off a banner 2007 season. She finished first on floor, second on beam, and third on vault at the 2007 Louisiana Cup. At the 2007 USAG Level 10 Texas State Championships she claimed fifth on beam, seventh on floor, and ninth in the all-around. At the 2007 USAG Level 10 Region III Championships she earned second place on beam, fourth on floor, and thirteenth in the all-around. Sizemore (pictured at right) also competed as a Level 10 gymnast in 2006. She was a Level 9 competitor in 2004 and 2005. At the 2005 USAG Level 9 Texas State Championships she was the winning gymnast on beam. Sizemore, who graduated in May from Brazoswood High School, is also an excellent student. She is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society.
Walker (pictured at left) will come to TWU from the USA Aerial Athletics club in San Antonio, Texas. The 2007 season was a career best for Walker. She tied for third in the all-around and finished second on bars at the 2007 USAG Level 10 Texas State Championships. At the 2007 USAG Level 10 Region III competition she claimed second on bars and third in the all-around. Her strong all-around scores qualified her for the 2007 USAG Level 10 National Championships where she finished 23 rd in the all-around. In 2006, she earned a ninth place finish in the all-around at the USAG Level 9 Texas State Championships. At the 2006 USAG Level 9 Region III meet she finished third on beam, bars, and in the all-around. Walker is a graduate of Sandra Day O’Connor High School and a member of the National Honor Society.
Frank Kudlac, the Pioneers head gymnastics coach, says that both Sizemore and Walker are welcome additions to his squad.
“Our coaching staff had two points of emphasis during this recruiting season- keep Texas gymnasts here in Texas and find athletes capable of competing as all-arounders that can immediately raise our level of competition. Lauren and Amanda are both from Texas, and they are both strong all-around competitors that will bring some big time gymnastics skills to our program. I’m excited to have both of them sign on to become Pioneers,” he explained.
