PIONEER POST from Catherine |
Pioneer Post - April 22, 2007
(Editor's Note: This is the sixth and final installment in a series of "Pioneer Posts" from Seattle, Washington detailing the TWU Pioneers experiences at the 2007 USAG National Championships)
Hey this is Catherine Schnoes (pictured to the right with Courtney Arno) checking in with you on our last day at Nationals. To our astonishment we found out that our return flight home was canceled. Instead of leaving at two in the afternoon as we were supposed to, we had to wait till midnight. We were all a little confused thinking it was a joke, but much to our surprise it wasn’t. The good thing about the delay is that it gave us a little more time to hang out as a team in Seattle.
We decided to go down to Public Market on the waterfront in downtown Seattle. The coaching staff was especially glad to finally get out and do something. Dealing with all the meet preparations, they had no time to sight see. We were able to look around at the shops, sample some of the food, and go down to the Fish Market. The Fish Market was so fun and entertaining. We were able to watch the guys throw fish at one another, and some of the girls on our team tried to catch the fish too. We then split up and went our own ways. We were able to do a little extra shopping.
Many of the girls went back to the hotel to study and relax before the long trip home. After a long day, we all met up and went out to eat. After eating, we packed the vans and headed to the airport. Everybody fell asleep on the plane and we landed back at DFW around 6:00 a.m.
Check back with us for the end of the year wrap up.
