PIONEER POST from Catherine |
Pioneer Post - March 21, 2007
My name is Catherine (Cat) Schnoes and I am a senior kinesiology major. I expect to graduate in December 2007. We started the week off on a good note ending with our final home meet and senior night. It was an awesome night; we scored our highest score all year - 194.825. It was a great final home meet for our three seniors to finish on.
After senior night, the coaches gave us a relaxed day in the gym on Sunday. We were able to review the video from senior night then finish up with some conditioning. We had a short week in the gym, only working out Monday and Tuesday because of our travel schedule. We had a great two days polishing up our form and working hard on our landings. Coach has really been stressing landings to us, because it can really add a few tenths to our score, and that is what we need.
Wednesday and Thursday were used as rest days while we traveled to Tucson, Arizona. The sunny warm weather felt good, with the high reaching 101! We tried to soak up the sun as much as possible, but were limited to the amount of time we could be poolside, so we would not be drained. On the day of the meet, we made a quick stop to the University of Arizona bookstore where we were able to shop around. Afterwards we headed up to a park to kill some time. To our surprise we were able to watch the Colorado Rockies practice during their spring training. It was very exciting. Brittney Parker and Nicole Poling were really excited since they are from Colorado.
The meet in Arizona did not go as planned. We started the meet on bars and had to count two falls. Next, we went to beam and again had to count two more falls. After beam we picked up the pace and attacked floor. We had no falls on floor but had to count an out of bounds. Vault was our final event, which we did not have to count any falls. Our total score was a 190.525. We are all anxious to get back to Texas, hit the gym and work hard, to reconfirm to ourselves that we are capable of hitting both in and out of the gym.
Check in next week to get the update on our last regular season meet in Arkansas.
Go Pioneers!
