Pioneer Post - February 5, 2007
Welcome back, Pioneer fans!
This past week the team only had three practices to prepare for our second away meet of the season against MIC rivals Centenary College and Illinois State University. Coach again emphasized the importance of executing “BIG” routines in practice, pretending that every routine we did was being judged. Even though we had a short week to prepare for the meet, the team worked very hard and had productive practices.
Despite having to count a few falls and stumbles, the team finished first at the meet this weekend in Shreveport! It was great to come out ahead of our MIC rivals. The team started the meet on beam. The beam team got the Pioneers off to a great start, not having to count a fall. On our next event (floor), we got off to a rocky start, but Amy Hulbert, Tonya Pipkorn, and Amie Boles performed solid routines and picked the team back up. On vault we had to count a fall, but the team looked strong overall. The team finished up on bars. We had a few mistakes, but Courtney Arno finished the rotation with a solid routine (9.875) for the Pioneers.
We are looking forward to a longer week of practice to prepare for our next home meet. Please come support the Pioneers this weekend in Pioneer Hall at 7 pm. We will be competing against BYU and Ball State. This meet is Student Organization and Faculty/Staff appreciation night. Also, CiCi’s will be giving away free pizza to fans while supplies last. We hope to see you there! Thanks for your support!
Go Pioneers!
