BOLDS’ BIG NIGHT HELPS PIONEERS BURY ZIAS 71-51

 PORTALES, New Mexico (January 31) – Texas Woman’s University sophomore guard Keshia Bolds hit a school-record tying seven three-point shots to lead the Pioneers to a 71-51 road win over the Eastern New Mexico University Zias on Tuesday night in Portales, New Mexico.
Bolds (pictured), a native of The Colony, Texas, missed just one shot (7-8) from behind the arc en route to scoring a career-high 27 points and carrying the Pioneers (7-11, 2-3 LSC South) to their second straight Lone Star Conference South Division victory.
“Keshia was on fire tonight,” said a pleased TWU head coach Beth Jillson. “The ENMU defense was giving her the outside shot and, to her credit, she stepped up and knocked them down.”
Freshman guard Tia Dixon also enjoyed an outstanding night in the win for the Pioneers. The Summit High School product scored 10 points and dished out a TWU season-high 13 assists.
“That was one of Tia’s best games of the season,” said Jillson. “She made smart decisions with the ball and did an excellent job of finding our open shooters.”
Freshman forward Til-Louis Fifer scored 16 points in the loss for the Zias (3-15, 0-5 LSC South).
The Pioneers will continue their weekend road trip with a game on Saturday, February 2, at 2:00 p.m. in Canyon, Texas against the LSC South Division leading West Texas A&M University Lady Buffs. |
