PIONEERS SIGN POINT GUARD TIA DIXON
 DENTON, Texas (May 16) – The Texas Woman’s University basketball team added another new player to their roster earlier this week with the signing of point guard Tia Dixon (pictured) to a national letter of intent.
Dixon , 5’3”, is a product of Summit High School in Mansfield, Texas. She averaged 5 points, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2.5 rebounds last season as a senior on a Jaguars team that posted a 33-6 record and advanced all the way to the UIL Class 5A state semifinals. For her efforts during the 2006-07 campaign she was named to the 2007 All-District 4-5A second team.
As a junior in 2005-06, Dixon helped Summit to a 31-4 record and a trip to the Region I-5A quarterfinals. She led her team (and was third in the area) with 3.4 assists per game. Following the season, she was chosen to the 2005-06 All-District 4-5A second team.
TWU head basketball coach Rene Hanebutt is looking forward to seeing Dixon in a Pioneers uniform.
“Tia’s greatest strength is the ability to make the players on the court with her better,” Hanebutt stated. “She is a pure point guard who knows how to run a team and run an offense. I’m expecting big things from Tia over the course of her collegiate career.”
Dixon will enroll at TWU in the fall of 2007 and be a member of the Pioneers 2007-2008 team.
