DOUBLEDAVE'S PIZZAWORKS WILL HOST TWU NIGHT ON MONDAY, SEPT. 24
Portion of the night’s net sales will go toward student-athlete scholarships
DENTON, Texas (September 6) - Texas Woman’s University Athletics welcomes all Pioneer fans to a special fund-raising event on Monday, Sept. 24, from 6-10 p.m. at DoubleDave’s Pizzaworks in Denton. The restaurant is located at 220 W. University Drive, just minutes from the TWU campus.
DoubleDave’s will donate 10 percent of the net sales from the night to TWU student-athlete scholarships. Dine-in, carry out and delivery orders will all count towards the net sales. To place a carry out or delivery order, please call DoubleDave’s at 243-DAVE (3283).
“We want to be a restaurant that is known for supporting the Denton community,” said Ali Kohandani, one of the franchise restaurant’s owners. “We want to be a place that both college students and the area’s families enjoy.”
Ali, Amir and Bagher Kohandani purchased the long-established restaurant on University Drive in March of this year. Since then, they have become a TWU Athletics corporate sponsor.
Texas Woman’s University raises money for student-athlete scholarships through its annual Pioneer Athletics Fund Drive. More than 80 student-athletes at TWU compete in five NCAA Division II sports – basketball, gymnastics, soccer, softball and volleyball. These student-athletes are truly students first as evidenced by their academic success. For 50 consecutive semesters (25 years), the combined grade point average for all TWU teams has never dropped below a 3.0. In spring 2007, the athletics GPA was a 3.25.
