SHEREE COLSON JOINS THE TWU ATHLETIC TRAINING STAFF
DENTON, Texas (August 28) – The Texas Woman’s University Athletic Training staff has grown by one with the addition of Sheree Colson as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.
Colson is a familiar face around the TWU Athletic Department. Since 2006, she has served as an intern athletic trainer for the Pioneers. Additionally, she has worked as a graduate teaching assistant in the TWU Kinesiology Department instructing upper-level undergraduate and graduate activity classes.
A Texas State Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS), Colson got her start in athletic training with two years (2001-03) of work as a student athletic trainer at Baylor University. She earned both her Bachelor’s of Science in Education (in 2002) and her Master of Science in Education (2003) while at Baylor. She is currently working on her doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology here at TWU.
After leaving Baylor, Colson worked as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Championship Speed and Strength, Inc. in Waco. She has also been employed as a Health Science Lab Specialist at McLennan Community College in Waco and as a Health and Fitness Specialist at MediFit Corporate Services, Inc. in Irving.
Kris Ring, TWU’s head athletic trainer, is pleased to add Colson as a full-time member of her staff.
“Sheree is really going to enhance the level of care that we can provide to our Pioneer student-athletes,” said Ring. “She is well qualified for this position and has a wealth of athletic training and strength training experience. I’m excited to have her on board.”
