BERTICELLI HIRED AS PIONEERS’ COMPLIANCE COORDINATOR
DENTON, Texas (January 5) – Texas Woman’s University Director of Athletics Chalese Connors is pleased to announce the hiring of Nino Berticelli as the Pioneers’ compliance coordinator effective January 7.
Berticelli comes to TWU with a wealth of professional experience in college athletics. From October 2006–August 2007, he served as an Academic Advisor for Student Athletes at the University of Texas-San Antonio. At UTSA, he advised 225 student-athletes for eight NCAA Division I varsity athletic programs and oversaw all of the Roadrunners’ NCAA compliance duties and reports relevant to initial and continuing eligibility.
Prior to his stint at UTSA, Berticelli worked for just under four years at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. From August 2002-June 2005 he held the position of Athletics Academics Services Coordinator in the Sharks athletics department. From April 2004-June 2006, he worked in the NSU compliance office, first as the interim compliance office and then the NCAA Compliance Coordinator.
Berticelli graduated from the University of Notre Dame in May 1999 with his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. While at Notre Dame, he was a member of the Fighting Irish’s varsity soccer team. After completing his undergraduate work and his athletic eligibility, he served as Notre Dame’s Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach from March 2000-March 2001.
Berticelli enhanced his educational profile in May 2002 when he received his Masters of Science in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida.
Connors is excited to add Berticelli to her department at TWU.
“Nino is an eager young professional and a great addition to our staff,” she said. “It’s difficult to conduct a search midway through the academic year and we are fortunate to find someone who has the Division II compliance experience that is so necessary for this position.”
Berticelli will be taking over the Pioneers’ compliance duties from Dianne Baker. Baker has served as TWU’s compliance coordinator for the past two years after retiring in 2005 as the Pioneers’ head softball coach. Although she is leaving the University’s athletic office, she always be a part of the Pioneer family.
“I want to publicly thank Dianne for her continued commitment to her alma mater,” Connors added. “She loves TWU and demonstrates that everyday.”
