RUSS-KELLER PITCHES TWU TO A WIN BEFORE THE WEATHER STOPS GAME TWO

DENTON , Texas – Texas Woman’s University opened Lone Star Conference play with a 1-0 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville before Mother Nature halted game two.

The second game was suspended due to thunderstorms in the area in the bottom of the tenth inning with the score tied 2-2. The teams will resume the game tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. prior to the final two games of the LSC series.

“Lindsy (Russ-Keller) was fabulous. We had it all, pitching, hitting and fielding, in first game. We are pretty good when we get it all together,” head coach Marty Blowers said. “Offensively, Amber (Brooks) and Amanda (Emory) each had two hits.”

Russ-Keller (4-8) shut out the Javelinas for the game one victory. Russ-Keller tossed a complete game six-hitter with four strikeouts.

Brooks provided the offense with two hits including a RBI double which accounted for the Pioneers only run. Brooks scored Emory in the first inning with a hit to left center field.
