PIONEERS HONORED BY THE GYMNASTICS ASSOCIATION OF TEXAS
DENTON , Texas – The Texas Woman’s University gymnastics team was recognized recently by the Gymnastics Association of Texas at its annual convention.
The Pioneers received the National Honor and Texas Merit Award for their performances during the 2005 season. Head coach Frank Kudlac, assistant Tim Rivera and Brisa Fuentes earned the Honor Award for distinguishing themselves by excellence of performance and coaching at the highest level of national competition. As a freshman, Fuentes was the co-National Champion on the uneven bars at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships.
The entire team and coaching staff earned the Merit Award in recognition of significant achievement in gymnastics in competition, coaching or leadership at a regional and national level. The Pioneers finished second at both the Midwest Independent Conference and USAG Championships last year.
TWU kicks off the 2006 season with its annual Intrasquad meet on Friday, December 2 at 7:00 p.m. in Kitty Magee Arena. Admission is free.
