KUDLAC TABBED AS COACH OF THE YEAR BY THE GREATER DENTON SPORTS COMMISSION
DENTON , Texas – For the second consecutive year, Texas Woman’s University gymnastics head coach Frank Kudlac was named the Sears Coach of the Year at the fifth annual Greater Denton Sports Commission (GDSC) Athletic Banquet on Monday night at the Gateway Center at the University of North Texas.
Last month the Pioneers won their 8th USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championship in the last 13 years, coming from behind in the final rotation to overtake the University of California-Davis. Senior Bethany Rehm and junior Courtney Arno won individual USAG national titles on the uneven bars and balance beam, respectively.
TWU also captured the 2006 Midwest Independent Conference title for the first time in four years as a member of the league. Kudlac received National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches for Women Division II Head Coach of the Year honors as well.
In addition, Kudlac saw his team register a grade point average of 3.61 in the Fall 2005 semester. Brittany Parker, Nicole Poling, Rehm and Emily Seidelman each posted a perfect 4.0 GPA. For their academic achievements, 14 gymnasts earned MIC All-Conference scholastic recognition with a 3.25 fall GPA or higher and five garnered USAG Scholar-Athlete Awards with a 3.2 GPA or higher and junior or senior status.
