PIPKORN TABBED AS MIDWEST INDEPENDENT CONFERENCE GYMNAST OF THE WEEK
 DENTON , Texas – Texas Woman’s University freshman Tonya Pipkorn earned Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week accolades for March 13-19 with career-high scores last week.
Pipkorn posted career-bests on the vault, balance beam and floor exercise in the Pioneers triangular meet with No. 15 Arizona and No. 23 BYU on March 18. Against the tough competition, she scored a 9.650 on vault, 9.775 on beam and 9.725 on floor.
The Denton, Texas, native is the Pioneers first honoree this season. Pipkorn has been in the beam lineup all season and missed just one meet on the floor event. She competed on vault for the first time last week.
The MIC is a women’s gymnastics conference with member teams from the University of Illinois at Chicago; Illinois State University; Centenary College; Southeast Missouri State and TWU.
Next, the Pioneers are at the 2006 MIC Championships hosted by SEMO in Cape Girardeau, Mo., on March 25 at 1:00 p.m.
