Pioneer Post 4 -- Week of Nov. 1,
2004
Hi
everyone! Welcome to another edition of Pioneer Post. My
name is Rachel Goddard and I am one of the seven seniors
this year. Workouts have been going really well. We started
putting our routines together on bars and beam and they look
great. Choreography on floor is looking awesome as well and
we are so excited to show them off this year! Vault is also
emerging as one of our best events. Many new vaults have
been attempted and made this past week!
Halloween was very eventful because the coaching staff dressed
up for practice that day. Tim (our assistant coach) was a pirate.
It was so funny and we thought he was the only one in costume
until Coach Kudlac walked in. As we were warming up and running
around the gym, I heard people screaming with laughter and
saw Coach dressed in a pink pinstriped suit with a fedora!
He looked like a character from Miami Vice (remember that old
show?). He remained in costume throughout practice and it was
so hard not to laugh when he was spotting!
This week, Lauren Kondikoff and Nicole Poling, our Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee (SAAC) representatives, told us that TWU
athletes were planning a canned food drive for Red Cross and
Florida Hurricane relief fund. SAAC is a committee made up
of student-athlete representatives from each team assembled
to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC
also offers input on issues that affect student-athletes' lives
on NCAA member institution campuses. We decided to split up
into classes and have a little competition among the team to
see how many cans we could collect. We did so well! The team
room looks like a pantry right now with all the canned foods
in it. We are so grateful to everyone who donated to this worthy
cause. It was fun going door-to-door and meeting Pioneer fans.
That is
all for now but stay tuned for next week’s journal
entry!
GO T-DUB! GO PIONEERS!
