Pioneer Post 3 -- Week of Oct. 25,
2004
Hi,
my name is Dana Giametta and I am a senior this year. Here’s
the scoop on another fantastic week with Pioneer Gymnastics.
Although
many of us have been taking mid-terms, we still managed to
stay focused and work hard in practice. Everyone
was enthusiastic
and supported one another when it came practice time. We
know that our priority is academics and we work just as hard
to
get good grades as we do in the gym.
Even
though it is mid-term time, we did have a couple of stress
relievers this past
week. Because it was Halloween,
we had
some fun and exciting activities and surprises that went
on. Sunday night we had our annual skit night, which I
must say
was HILARIOUS! Each class (freshmen, sophomores, juniors,
and seniors) had a chance to make up their own skit about
anything
they wanted and perform in front of the team. Everyone
was very creative and did an awesome job! On Tuesday, everyone
was ready for a great practice on vault. Coach Kudlac gave
one of our team members an incentive to land a vault. If
she did, the team would get a surprise. Well, she hit her
vault
and we all met up in the middle of the mat to find out
that
we were going to the pumpkin patch! (The gymnastics team
annually goes to a local pumpkin patch that is operated
by a dear friend
and loyal fan.) Everyone was thrilled! When we got to the
pumpkin patch, we all searched and found the perfect pumpkin.
You can
see our team and their pumpkins on the main page of our
team’s
web site. We truly appreciate the support Myra, the owner
of the pumpkin patch, has given us over the years! After
our outing,
all of us sat down and the seniors lead a discussion about
our team and individual goals for our upcoming season.
This was a great opportunity for us to bond as a team.
Another
exciting activity that we had last week in celebration
of Halloween was Secret Spooks. Each person from the
team picked a secret spook by drawing a name out of a cup.
We
gave each
other small little gifts or some people simply wrote
a motivational letter to them for practice. All of this was
done anonymously.
Then the final day on Halloween, we revealed ourselves
as that person’s secret spook and gave one last
final gift.
That’s all for now. We look forward
to sharing more in the upcoming weeks. Go Pioneers!
