Post 23 -- Week of April 11, 2005
This week is our official last week of practice before we
leave for Nationals. It has been exciting, and yet for us seven
seniors, a bit sad knowing that our gymnastics careers are
coming to an end.
The entire week has been spent fine tuning bits and pieces
of routines. We are “sharpening the edge,” as coach
likes to call it. We don’t do that many repetitions now
because it is more mental than anything else. We have followed
coach’s system and are peaking at the right time which
is great.
Along with this being the last week in the gym, it has been
the start of the “psych” gifts, which is a tradition
on the TWU Gymnastics team. On Thursday the freshmen gave us
a picture CD full of memories from the year. On Friday, the
sophomores gave us bags that were awesome. Saturday will be
the juniors’ turn and then Monday is the seniors’ and
coaches’ “psych” day.
With Nationals in New York this year and not at home, it will
be sad not having all our home fans there cheering us on but
there is good news. We have worked very hard all year long
and can’t wait for it to pay off, and hopefully come
home with another championship in hand. The TWU gymnastics
team appreciates all of the fans and would like you to keep
us in your prayers as we travel to New York.
To my teammates - I have enjoyed each and every moment of this
year. I can’t
wait to go to New York and show them how good we are, and that we are proud
to be from TEXAS!!!!!
Go Pioneers!!!!
