Pioneer
Post 21 -- Week of March 28, 2005
The
TWU gymnasts are enjoying three days off after a great Midwest
Independent Conference Championship meet.
The Pioneers definitely proved themselves this past weekend
as we placed second just behind the University of Illinois – Chicago.
After a dismal 5th place (last) finish last year, the Pioneers
beat Illinois State University, Southeast Missouri State University,
and Centenary College.
The Pioneers put up a good score of 194.125, to beat Centenary
by .025 and lose to the Flames by .075. TWU won three out of
the four events with Courtney Arno (bars), Rachel Goddard (beam)
and Brittney Abney (floor) each earning first place honors.
Overall the Pioneers looked awesome despite having to count
one fall towards the team score. We have two more weeks of
practice before we are off to Ithaca, New York for the 2005
USAG Collegiate National Championships hosted by Cornell University.
The season is not over for us. We have some business to take
care of in New York!
