Post 19 -- Week of March 14, 2005
Hello TWU Gymnastics Fans! It has been another exciting week.
On Tuesday the team found out that Senior Rachel Goddard was
named Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week and
it is the first time for a TWU gymnast to receive such an amazing
honor. We also moved up in the USAG Collegiate Division rankings
to #1. GO TWU PIONEERS!
On Thursday
the team left for Arizona to compete against the University
of Arizona, Ball State, and Cal State-Fullerton
Friday night. When the team arrived in Arizona the weather
was beautiful at 85°. As soon as the team got to the hotel
we headed out to the pool. However, the next day we stayed
inside in order to conserve our energy and get pumped for the
meet. We ended up posting our highest away score with a 192.700
and took third place in the meet. The team really pulled together
and had a lot of fun.
Saturday we traveled back to Denton so we could start preparing
for the meet on Sunday against LSU, the number four team in
the Nation for college gymnastics. The meet started off great.
We hit seven of seven vaults and both Brittany and Kia were
amazing. Brittany hit a beautiful yurchenko full and for the
first time this year Kia hit her yurchenko half. After vault
we ran into a few problems on bars and our energy just dwindled.
However, the team knows what we are capable of doing and are
planning to bring it this Saturday against Auburn University.
Please come support us on Saturday the 19th at 7pm. This is
also Senior Recognition and Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
So wear your pink and be ready to cheer loud!
TWU PIONEERS ROCK!
