Post 18 -- Week of March 7, 2005
Welcome back Pioneer Fans! We are quickly coming
to the end of the season but there is so much left to accomplish.
We were on the road again on Saturday to Oklahoma and although
we did not have a night like Tuesday night, we are still moving
in the direction we want be going.
We started on bars and hit all six routines plus the exhibition
spot! What a great way to start the meet off! We moved to vault
next and looked awesome. Our landings are getting better every
meet and we still have vaults that are being upgraded to show
off! Floor was good also. This week we are going to focus on
big landings and showing them off. Our floor team looked strong
and it was so much fun to watch everyone enjoy our routines.
When we went to beam, we lost our focus and looked a little
rattled. Not hitting on beam after hitting three events without
a fall was a great lesson though because we will have that
same pressure at Conference and Nationals. After all, we are
the seven-time USAG National champions! Now we will know how
to deal with it and it will not be something that we have never
faced before.
We hit 21 for 24 routines on Saturday but had to count three
falls because of all the miscues on beam. We were disappointed
but we have to keep things in perspective. We still reached
our goal of hitting 20 or higher out of 24. Hits are what is
going to help us reach our goals. Not only hits, but BIG hits!
We’re
really excited to get back in the gym and to prepare for
our last away meet of the season and the last regular season
travel meet for our seven seniors. We will compete at the University
of Arizona along with Cal State-Fullerton and Ball State.
Thanks for keeping up with all of our Pioneer Gymnastics news!
A big thanks to our wonderful fans! You mean the world to us!
GO T-DUB!
