Post 16 -- Week of Feb. 21, 2005
After
our trip to Alaska last week we had some time to defrost
and get ready for our next meet at OU. We came
from -5 degrees to our warm and sunny Texas homes with temperatures
in the 70’s last week.
Practices were rock solid all last week. Everyone stepped it
up and was looking great. Our hitting percentages in the gym
greatly increased.
Our team also experienced what we are calling the 101 temperature.
When we got back from Alaska, most of the girls came down with
a fever and felt awful. Throughout the week we were missing
two or three teammates at a time due to this illness, but by
the end of the week they were feeling a little better. By meet
time we had to do some rearranging with our line up but we
felt pretty confident with the team that we had. The meet didn’t
go as well as we would have hoped (hit 18/24) but it was a
learning experience.
This next week in the gym we should all be back and healthy
and continue to improve. Right now we are half way through
the season, and the second half is going to go by fast but
it will be fun. Most of our close meets so far we have beaten
ourselves by making too many mistakes. Once we eliminate our
mistakes and hit big, we will open some eyes with our true
capabilities.
The next meet is February 26th at home against
Air Force, Illinois and Centenary at 7:00 p.m. Then we have
a few days to get ready to host for Utah State on Tuesday March
1st.
We all look forward to seeing you there cheering us on.
GO PIONEERS!!!!!
