Pioneer
Post 14 -- Week of Feb. 7, 2005
Hello,
it’s Erin MacNabb submitting another
Pioneer Post from the TWU Gymnastics team. The team had an
unusual weekend off with no competitions the weekend on January
29th. This worked to our advantage this past weekend in our
meet against BYU and SEMO on February 5th. We had two great
weeks of practice and some rest resulting in our team’s
best meet of the year. The results (hit 22 of 24 routines)
brought back a feeling the upperclassmen had not had in more
than a year. As a team, we have not had a meet where we truly
HIT almost all our routines in a long while.
The team hit at least five of six routines on each event.
This allowed TWU to count zero falls towards our team score.
Although we lost to BYU, our great meet allowed us to soar
past SEMO, a Midwest Independent Conference opponent.
We had three short practices Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday before
heading to Alaska bright and early Wednesday. Our practices
have been filled with energy, enthusiasm and confidence! This
should set us up for a two great meets against the University
of Alaska-Anchorage. They are currently ranked No. 4 in the
USAG poll; we are No. 6. It will be an exciting weekend! Once
we get to Anchorage, we will have a practice day and a little
site-seeing before competing back-to-back on Friday and Saturday.
