PIONEERS RECORD BEST AWAY SCORE AT ARIZONA

TUCSON , Ariz. – The Texas Woman’s University gymnastics team posted their best road score of the season at a quadrangular meet hosted by the University of Arizona .

The Pioneers (4-13) only had to count one fall for a score of 192.700 good enough to beat Ball State (191.300). The Wildcats won the meet with a 196.375 and Cal State-Fullerton took second with a 193.600.

“It was our highest away score of the year. Arizona posted their best score and did a nice job,” head coach Frank Kudlac said.

TWU started on the balance beam. Jennifer Bolli tallied a season-high 9.750 good for a sixth-place finish.

“Jennifer was outstanding for us on beam. She had not competed in the event for a while and did a nice job. We needed a hit because we were already counting a fall and she anchored us,” Kudlac added.

Next was the floor exercise. Brittany Abney tied for third place with a 9.875 score. Rachel Goddard (9.825), Nakia Westbrook (9.825), Bolli (9.700) and Dana Giametta (9.675) contributed to the 48.900 team score.

On the vault, Jessica Brozovich led the way with a 9.725. The Pioneers finished with a solid uneven bars routine. Courtney Arno and Giametta recorded scores of 9.725 and 9.700, respectively.

“So all in all we helped our average. Now we turn around and come home to meet the Tigers,” Kudlac said.

TWU begins a three-meet home stand against No.4 LSU on March 13 at 3:00 p.m. The Tigers come in with a short rest period as well after defeating No. 9 Oklahoma, 197.850-195.750, on March 11. LSU’s April Brookholder scored two perfect 10s on vault and bars.  The junior also added a 9.9 on bars and a 9.925 floor exercise score to clinch the all-around victory with a 39.825 total.
