KLEIN JOINS GYMNASTICS STAFF

DENTON, Texas – Lisa Klein is joining the Texas Woman’s University gymnastics staff as a graduate assistant coach on Jan. 1, 2005, announced head coach Frank Kudlac.

“I am very excited about adding another staff member to our program. Lisa brings a lot of youth and energy as a recent gymnast at Illinois State,” said Kudlac. “She was a highly accomplished gymnast and knows what it takes to go from good to great. We are excited about her bringing that experience to TWU.”

Klein’s focus with the Pioneers will be the floor exercise and balance beam events. In addition, she will assist with choreography and conditioning including putting together and supervising workouts.

“We will also look for her to beef up promotions by making contacts. The goal is to pack the gym for every meet,” added Kudlac.

Klein competed for ISU from 2000-04 and is pursuing a master’s degree in exercise and sport nutrition at TWU. She was a student assistant for the Redbirds this fall while completing her undergraduate degree in nutrition and dietetics.

As a senior, she was named captain of her team and currently holds the beam and floor records at ISU with scores of 9.95 in both events. Klein led her team to NCAA Regionals and also competed individually as a beam specialist.

An outstanding student, Klein received academic all-conference and all-state honors throughout her career. She was also named to the Dean’s List every semester and on the ISU Athletics Honor Roll. She was active in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), ISU Athletics Council, Red Tassel Mortar Board, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Golden Key International Honor Society, and other community service activities.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Klein competed for GymQuarters Gymnastics where she qualified for Junior Olympic Nationals four times and won multiple state and regional championships.
