MAROON, SILVER AND WHITE COMPETE AT INTRASQUAD
MEET
DENTON,
Texas – The Texas Woman’s University gymnastics
team held their annual Intrasquad meet at Kitty Magee Arena.
The Silver team won the meet with a score of 113.400, edging
the Maroon, 112.800, and White, 112.500, squads by less than
a point.
“ Absolutely a great job tonight as far as our potential. We have a lot
of room for improvement also,” said head coach Frank Kudlac. “At
this point in time it was one of the best Intrasquad meets in my last 15 years.
It will be an exciting season coming up.”
The team split into three squads with the top three scores in each event counting
towards the team total. Junior Amber McMeans, an USAG All-American on balance
beam, uneven bars and floor exercise, won the all-around competition with a
total score of 38.150. She had meet-high scores on the bars, 9.600, and floor,
9.750, as well.
“ Amber has been our only all-arounder in the past but now we have three
or four which shows depth. The biggest thing for me tonight was to see we have
a lot of depth in each event,” added Kudlac.
Senior Jessica Brozovich, a two-time USAG All-American on vault, and freshman
Brittany Abney led the Silver team to victory by winning the vault and beam
events.
“ Brittany also has the potential to be one of our better gymnasts on floor
and vault as well. She will have a lot to do for the Pioneers this year,” said
Kudlac.
The Pioneers begin the regular season Jan. 15 when they host Oklahoma at 7:00
p.m.
