GODDARD NAMED MIDWEST INDEPENDENT CONFERENCE
GYMNAST OF THE WEEK

Texas – After breaking the school record on
the balance beam and leading the Texas Woman’s University
gymnastics team to victory over Utah State, senior Rachel Goddard
was named the Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the
Week for March 1-7.
“This is the first ever MIC athlete of the week for our program and Rachel
certainly was deserving with her performances last week,” head coach Frank
Kudlac said.
Goddard played a big part in the Pioneers 195.950-195.900 victory over the
Aggies, breaking the school record on the balance beam. After teammate Brittany
Abney tied the school record, Goddard set the mark with a 9.925 to win the
event and lead TWU to a new team beam record (49.200) as well. On the floor
exercise, Goddard earned second place with a season-high 9.925 as the team
recorded its best overall score of the season.
Against Oklahoma, Goddard tied for fourth place on the beam (9.750) and floor
(9.825) as the Pioneers posted their top road score (191.425) of the year.
The MIC is a women’s gymnastics conference with member teams from the
University of Illinois at Chicago; Illinois State University; Centenary College;
Southeast Missouri State and TWU. This is the first season that the conference
is awarding a weekly Gymnast of the Week honor. The Pioneers are the host of
the 2005 MIC Championships on March 25 at 6:00 p.m.
TWU is back in action on March 11 at Arizona for a quadrangular meet with Ball
State and Cal State-Fullerton at 7:30 p.m.
