HAWKINS AND MESSMER RECEIVE LONE STAR CONFERENCE ACADEMIC HONORS
 DENTON , Texas – Texas Woman’s University volleyball players Robin Hawkins and Carley Messmer were recognized for their academic achievement by the Lone Star Conference. Ana Kordic was named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Both TWU and Central Oklahoma placed two players each on the North Division All-Academic Team. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.20 grade point average with a minimum of 24 semester hours completed at the nominating institution.
Messmer, a math major with a 3.68 GPA, was an LSC all-conference first team and all-tournament team selection as a senior. The Garland, Texas, native made the first team for the second consecutive year after getting honorable mention honors as a sophomore. This season, she played in every game but one averaging 10.47 assists per  game. Messmer accumulated 1351 assists, 145 kills and 322 digs in 2005.
Hawkins earned LSC all-conference second-team honors as well. She was a complete player for TWU leading the team in kills (448), digs (533) and service aces (44). She was also chosen for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI Volleyball College Division second team. Hawkins is a marketing major with a 3.95 GPA. The Flower Mound, Texas, native had 21 double-double matches in 2005.
A marketing major from Dubrovnik, Croatia, Kordic has a 3.32 GPA. The senior played in 32 matches with 156 kills, 80 digs and 63 blocks in 2005.
